Credit no longer needed to shop online

Consumers no longer need a credit card in order to buy online. Major retail sites are increasingly making it easier for consumers to conduct shopping in a digital environment – but it has been a luxury not available to those who only have access to payment by debit card, which has traditionally not been accepted in most e-commerce environments.

PayU gets serious about online

Online payment solutions company PayU heralds a new era with a revamped logo. The new visualisation now contains a simplified company name without any additional graphical elements.

The major change to the logo entails the removal of the ‘click arrow’ which was an integral part of the sign, making for a cleaner, distinct logo.

Cutting the superfluities, the new look aims to mirror PayU’s focused approach in broadening their segment in the e-commerce environment. For the redesign PayU relied on research which showed a clear correlation between clear, stand-alone logo formats and memory bank impact. This research further found that people are prone to connect with ‘simple’ logos: if deciphering takes more than 5 seconds chances are you have lost a potential client.

Trust is the abstract imperative in online shopping, says CEO

The phrase has become terribly passé, but the online environment, and how we conduct ourselves in it, is changing. Consumers are steadily becoming savvy, globally focussed and knowledgeable. South Africans mean business with e-commerce

PayU survey reveals that 75% of respondents believe online shopping is the way of the future

There is no doubt that online shopping is booming in South Africa. Results of a recent News24 online survey conducted by PayU, a South African online and mobile payment service provider, support findings from a World Wide Worx research report claiming a 30% increase in online spending in 2010* relative to the previous year.

The survey, conducted in November 2011, revealed that 75% of the respondents actively participate in and recognise the important role that e-commerce will play in shaping South Africa’s future economy. In the three months leading up to the festive season, 85% of the respondents also claimed to have shopped online.
