How it works
There are a few ways customers can pay using PayU Easy. Select an option to see how they work for your business.
Your customer is on your website and selects to pay. They are immediately directed to PayU’s secure payment page.
Your customer selects to pay by credit card, enters their details and clicks pay.
We take care of the transaction and your customer is immediately returned to your website and notified of the successful transaction.
Electronic Funds Transfer
Your customer selects to pay by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) on your secure payment checkout page.
Your customer receives a unique reference number and is then required to login to their Internet banking portal to do the bank transfer.
Once the EFT is made, your customer and the merchant will receive an instant notification that the payment has been successful.

PayU Easy for you
Customers simply complete their purchase and you get confirmation that a transaction has taken place. The money from the sale goes into an account at PayU. Usually every week, we add up your total, subtract our fees, and pay the balance into your account. You also get a statement. The whole process is automated, making it easy and effortless for you.
A merchant account is a bank account that handles funds received from credit cards. If you have a retail business, and are accepting cards, then you already have a merchant account. However, you’ll need to contact your bank and ask them to set up an Internet merchant account – in order to process credit cards without the card being present for the transaction.
3D Secure is mandatory. It is a security standard created by Visa and MasterCard to further secure ecommerce transactions. 3D Secure payment security creates a ‘trust chain’ throughout the transaction, shifting the liability for fraud from the merchant to the issuer. Both the card holder and merchant acquiring account need to be enrolled/activated for 3D Secure.
Yes, all South African banks are supported. You can accept payments from all Visa and MasterCard cards, no matter where in the world they have been issued.
PCI DSS is ‘Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards’ – which are a common set of industry tools and measurements to help ensure the safe handling of sensitive information. Our payment gateway is a PCI DSS Level 1 Certified Payment Provider.
Refunds are limited to credit card transactions only.
